SUMMARY:Garment Execution and Fit
DESCRIPTION:This is an opportunity to get help with the fit of your garment. Students will bring the garment (or muslin) that they have basted or sewn by machine\, and we will evaluate the fit. It is also a time to address interfacing and lining applications\, learn certain permanent couture hand stitches and pressing techniques that will elevate the finished garment. Students will need to bring their already constructed/basted garment or muslin\, as well as pins\, safety pins\, thread and hand sewing needles. Please do not bring your sewing machine. There will be one available if you need it. In the last thirty minutes\, I will demonstrate hand sewing and couture techniques that are applicable to the class.  \n\n\n\nThe class is on the second floor of a historic building in downtown Franklin. There is no elevator access\, only stairs.

DESCRIPTION:In couture\, most of the final stages of a garment are done by hand and do not require a sewing machine. This is an opportunity to bring your garment and get help with the final stages of finishing it. You may need help with how to properly hem the garment\, finish seams\, or install a zipper in the couture way. Students will need to bring their own supplies such as hand sewing needles\, matching and contrast thread\, pins\, and safety pins.  \n\n\n\nThe class is in a historic building in downtown Franklin. There is no elevator access\, only stairs.

SUMMARY:Masters Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This five-day workshop focuses on learning haute couture techniques while exploring the artistry of two great couturiers – Madeliene Vionnet and Cristobal Balenciaga. You will have the opportunity to make a replica of one of their designs and see for yourself why they are considered masters of couture. You may choose from one of seventeen patterns\, or you may bring your own vintage or modern pattern. You will learn how to cut and manipulate fabric on the bias and on the straight of grain and take your dressmaking skills to a new level. The class size is small so each person will get plenty of individual attention. The price of the class is $1125 and includes over 35 hours of instruction on haute couture techniques\, personal fitting\, lunch for all 5 days\, and consultation before and after the class. To hold your spot\, a $250 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the class start date. The class will be held in Franklin\, Tennessee. SUMMARY:Bound Buttonholes
DESCRIPTION:The hand-sewn method for creating bound buttonholes is fairly easy. It is more accurate and better looking than machine bound buttonholes\, which can be a little chunky. This method was practiced in Cristobal Balenciaga’s atelier. Instructor will provide scrap wool fabric. Student will need to bring smaller ruler\, chalk\, thread\, hand sewing needle\, and scissors. \n\n\n\nPlease note this class is on the second floor of a historic building in downtown Franklin.
