DESCRIPTION:This is a beginner friendly\, pattern drafting class. Using excerpts from the book Pattern Magic Stretch by Tomoko Nakamichi\, students will learn about pattern-making principles in a fun and creative way. This is a great example of the principle of added fullness. Students will draft the pattern and then cut and sew a cute shrug. Instructions on how to make the apple peel jogger/yoga pants at home will also be shared. The concept behind this pattern can be seen in many high-end designs such as by Alexander McQueen and Valentino. You may even want to try it on a woven fabric in the future for a more dramatic effect. Come make something new and unique! Supply list and instructions will be sent upon registration.

SUMMARY:Western Shirtmaking with Manny
DESCRIPTION:Manny is back!! Manny’s class in June was a blast\, and there were some beautiful creations by students. He is offering another 3-day Western shirt-making class. He will demonstrate every step that goes into making a shirt on his industrial equipment. Students will get to see fine examples of Manny’s craft\, try their hands at industrial sewing\, design\, cut\, and create their own custom shirt. Students will need to bring a basic button-up\, collared shirt pattern with a one-piece sleeve (it does not need to be Western style)\, fabric\, home machine\, and supplies. Detailed instructions\, a supplies list\, and preparation work required before the class will be sent upon registration. This class is not suited for beginners. In order to complete the shirt within the three days\, students will need to do some prep work and maybe some homework. Manny will provide the pearl buttons on the last day and teach students how to install it with his equipment. \n\n\n\nClass will meet August 14 – August 16 and will include over 15 plus hours of instruction. The total price of the class is $360. A 50% deposit is required 24 hours upon registration in order to hold your spot. SUMMARY:Drafting a Bodice Sloper and Fitting
DESCRIPTION:This class will meet two consecutive Saturdays\, July 8 (10:30-2:30) and July 15 (1:30-4:00). On the first Saturday\, students will take measurements of themselves and then draft a basic bodice sloper based on their own measurements. A sloper is a pattern that does not have style ease or seam allowance. These are added later based on a person’s style and fit preference\, which will be discussed. Students will draft the front and back of a basic bodice using their own measurements. Students will need to make a toile/muslin of the sloper pattern and be ready for the fitting and adjustments the following Saturday\, July 15th. Detailed instructions will be sent upon registration.

Beginning in 1950\, Manuel created handmade iconic looks for artists and entertainers like The Rat Pack Elite\, Elvis Presley\, The Beatles\, Salvadore Dali\, The Lone Ranger\, Johnny Cash and countless more. These handmade creations have stood the test of time and are some of the most recognizable iconic imagery from pop culture’s history. \n\n\n\nThese early childhood experiences created a unique perspective into the world of fine craftsmanship and became the fundamental base for Manny’s keen eye for detail. In 1991\, Manny helped his father move his business to Nashville\, where they continued to create custom clothes. Manuel continues to make custom clothing\, and his legend and craft continues also with the knowledge Manny now humbly shares. \n\n\n\n Manny will be offering a 3-day Western shirt-making class. DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to create a pattern based on your own measurements? In this beginner pattern drafting class\, students will draft the front and back of a bodice using their own measurements. Students must be comfortable reading and following directions on a diagram and measuring and drawing straight lines from a point using a ruler. The instructor will be there to guide and instruct students so they properly draft the pattern. If you were not able to attend the previous measurements class\, please sign-up to attend an abbreviated measurements class (10:30-11:30) right before this class. Drafting/tracing paper\, pencil\, ruler and tape measure required. No machines required. Bring a snack as we will work through lunchtime.
