Put away your fusible interfacing and learn the couture tailoring way for adding support to a jacket, coat, or other garment using woven interfacing and fine hand stitching. Instructor will provide materials. Student will need to bring hand sewing needles, thread, scissors, thimble (optional).
The hand-sewn method for creating bound buttonholes is fairly easy. It is more accurate and better looking than machine bound buttonholes, which can be a little chunky. This method was practiced in Cristobal Balenciaga’s atelier. Instructor will provide scrap wool fabric. Student will need to bring smaller ruler, chalk, thread, hand sewing needle, and scissors.
